Bone Doctor says he is VERY impressed with my progress. Fibula still in 3 pieces. Tibia still not connected. I need to add weight bearing to stimulate the healing process. Consume nutrition to feed my body what it needs to build bone.
All I have been allowed to do so far is come off the pain meds, Epsom Salt Bath therapy, and practice range of motion. I can almost get my left heel to my butt . I have lost some flexibility because i could not use pressure to assist until today. My left ankle almost flexes back as far as my right ankle unless i try to flex like a weight bearing front stance, then the added pressure tells me how far I truly have to go. He predicts 8 months till I can get back to full cardio and a full year before a can participate in anything full contact. The ankle screws may require removal. He fired my referral to physical therapy. He says I am doing so well I don't need it.
Start with about 25% weight bearing and go from there. Listen to my body and don't over do it. If I fall down, all bets are off. I am NOT to put myself in a fall risk situation.
The plan today was to take Nana to lunch. But every restaurant we pass we just don't want the food, lol... So we are headed to Whole Foods. They have an excellent deli and I am going to select additional bone building nutrition. Hope is the most incredible motivator.
